HÃ¥kan Hardenberger

Håkan Hardberger ( pronunciation: [ ˌ ː ho ː kan hɑ ʁdənbæʁʝəʁ ], born 1961 in Malmö) is a Swedish trumpeter.

He began at the age of eight years with the trumpet lessons from his teacher Bo Nilsson in Malmö. Hardberger attended the Conservatory in Paris with Pierre Thibaud, and in Los Angeles with Thomas Stevens.

He has already acquired at a young age a reputation as a trumpet virtuoso, the impressively mastered not only the classical repertoire, but also a variety of contemporary works by composers such as Andre Jolivet, Harrison Birtwistle, Hans Werner Henze, György Ligeti, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Rolf Martinsson and Arvo Pärt has recorded.

Through his play he also inspired other composers besides those mentioned above as the Austrians HK Gruber and Kurt Schwertsik to new compositions, the latter macchiato Divertimento (2007).

Hardberger is considered the leading trumpeter in classical and contemporary music of our time.
