Haldia ( Bengali: হলদিয়া, Haldiẏā ) is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal, with around 200,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is located in the district of Medinipur Purbo about 120 kilometers southwest of Kolkata at the mouth of the Hooghly and has its major seaport an important transhipment point for Kolkata and the East Indian room.
