Halifax is a municipality in the state of Vermont in the United States. The 728 inhabitants of the place (according to the census of 2010 ) feed primarily on livestock and pasture management. It is located right on the border of southern Massachusetts and about 20 km west of the Connecticut River.

Halifax is one of the oldest foundations in the area of present-day Vermont. Unlike many other Towns, the Benning Wentworth was proclaimed in the New Hampshire Grants of 1750 quickly, ie from 1761 onwards, and was colonized 1791-1830 the Town with the largest population in Vermont. Since a maximum of 1,600 inhabitants in 1800, the population increased but decreases continuously until 1960 had its minimum of only 268 residents.
