Hallah (Talmud)
Challa / חלה (German Teighebe ) is a treatise of the Mishnah in order Sera'im ( " seeds, seeds ").
Textual tradition
In the momentous for the Mischnatext manuscripts reveals that lack in handwriting Munich, the third chapter. Presumably it is due to carelessness of a copyist omitted, because the fourth chapter is regularly counted as such. But it is interesting that the manuscripts merchant and Munich a much longer final offer than the other manuscripts and the pressure.

The starting point for the provisions in Tractate Challah is found in the Torah. Thus we read:
" First of your dough ye shall offer up a cake as an offering. "
Structurally similar rules on first fruits also exist for the firstborn of animals, first fruits, etc. The Mischnatraktat Challa treated in its four chapters, among others the following questions:
- From what quantities, a dough is challapflichtig?
- What is the situation with the challah in relation to imported / exported grain?
- How are doughs of non-Jews, doughs and other treat?
The conclusion of the treaty constitutes a aggadisches piece with sample cases, what in the manuscripts Kaufmann and Munich, however, a section on " 24 gifts that you gave to the priests " is appended.
Tosefta and Talmud
At Challa exists a tract of Tosefta, however, the stronger than usual deviates from the Mishnah. Similarly, there is a Gemara in the Talmud Yerushalmi. The Babylonian Talmud, however, knows the treatise challah as little as the other treatises of the order Sera'im, apart from Berachot.
