Hällekis

Hällekis is a place ( Tätort ) in the Swedish municipality Götene in the county of Västra Götaland County. It is located about 14 kilometers northwest of Götene on the shores of Lake Vänern and has 704 inhabitants ( 2010).

Hällekis was an early industrial center, largely dominated by the now-defunct cement factory. From the industrial heyday of a workers' settlement from the turn of the century to 1900 is obtained ( Falkängens bruksgata ), which was renovated in 1983 and now is a craft center with small craft shops and workshops, as well as a youth hostel.

On the outskirts is the Hönsäter castle, now a hotel, and a few kilometers southwest of the mansion Hellekis. By Hällekis the trail leads Kinnekulleleden.
