Hambergen (Samtgemeinde)

The Samtgemeinde Hambergen on the northern edge of the district Osterholz extends over an area of 135 km ², making it the second largest municipality in area of the district Easter wood.

The integrated municipality was formed in the course of municipal reform in 1974 from the communities Axstedt, Hambergen, Holste, Lübberstedt and Vollersode and named after the most populous municipality. To strengthen the administrative power over these communities contributed some of their tasks to the Municipality.

Geography

The Samtgemeinde Hambergen is located about 35 kilometers north-east of Bremen in the North German Plain. Moderate traffic connection exists to the train Bremen- Bremerhaven (stations Oldenbüttel and Lübberstedt ) and to the Federal Highway 27 ( Walsrode Cuxhaven ). The major route is State Road 74 Bremen, Stade. In the community member Vollersode the Giehler brook, which rises north of Osterholz- Beck in the Long heath is to Hamme, which connects over the Oste- Hamme- channel Weser and Elbe. Part of the velvet municipality belongs to the Devil's Moor.
