Hammercult

Hammercult is an Israeli Death and Thrash metal band from Tel Aviv, which was founded in 2010. The band won the 2011 Metal Battle Wacken Open Air, and signed in the same year at Sonic Attack Records.

History

The band was founded in December 2010 by Yakir Shochat (vocals), Maayan Henik (drums ) and Elad Manor (bass ) and Arie Aranovich ( electric guitar ) and had her first appearance on December 25, 2010 in Be'er Sheva, Israel. 2011 was the guitarist Guy Ben David added by the band Demented Sanity. They released their first single in 2011 Black Horseman, which was made freely available on the internet.

In April 2011 the band at the Metal Battle Wacken Foundation of concerts in Israel participated and were able to prevail over the other participants. So they won participation in the Metal Battle Wacken Open Air 2011. Shortly before participating there, they released their EP Rise of the hammer. At the Wacken Open Air, they won against international competition and were they have new instruments.

Just a few days before the Wacken Open Air was announced that the band has signed with the German label Sonic Attack Records and in November they went on a European tour as a pre- band Dirty Rotten Imbeciles of (DRI ). In April 2012 they released their debut album Anthems of the Damned Sonic Attack Records. The album was produced by Arie Aranovich and mixed by Jacob Bredahl, the former singer of the band Hatesphere. With the release of the album Guy Ben David left the band and was replaced by guitarist Yotam Nagor. According Shochat the sounds used on the album Shalom Aleichem from and carols are a tribute to Accept whose titles Fast As A Shark also includes a folk song. The album was well received in the metal scene, in the Review of Metal Hammer, it received 5 of 7 possible points and was referred to as " independent and worth listening to debut", and the " aggressive and fast songs bridge the gap between modern thrash rhythms and melodic- colorful death riffs ".

With the album, and as the winner of the previous year Hammercult occurred again in 2012 at the Wacken Open Air. In addition, they went on a European tour in 2012 with Sepultura.
