The Hamoaze (also Hamoaze mouth ) is an estuary in southwest England, which extends into the English Channel from the confluence of the Tamar and its tributaries Tavy and Lynher north of Saltash up to the transition. It extends along the border between Devon and Cornwall. It flows from its starting point past the opposing cities of Plymouth and Torpoint, which are connected by a cable ferry. Here it flows along the Naval Base Devonport up to the southern tip of Plymouth, where it merges between Devil 's Point and Mount Edgcumbe in Plymouth Sound, which in turn flows into the English Channel. Since the 1980s, the Hamoaze is often recorded in maps no longer as an independent flow, but as part of the Plymouth Sound.

The Hamoaze is fully navigable. Vessels up to a draft of 16 m pass the river between the Plymouth Sound and the Naval Base Devonport, north of it, the maximum depth of 10 m. The southern section is particularly frequented by warships of the Royal Navy, as Devonport is the largest naval base in Western Europe. In addition, the Hamoaze with his side arms is also a popular sailing area.
