Hanging coffins

Hanging coffins are used in a Begräbnisart where the coffins are placed in the rock walls. They are found in different places, for example in China (mostly in the South) and the Philippines.

Hanging coffins were used by different ethnic groups, the most famous are those of the Bo (僰) in southwest China. They are made from a single log. Some are bars that protrude from the mountain wall, others are placed in caves or crevices. Others are on rocky outcrops.
