Hanging punctuation

Under hanging punctuation is understood in typography a technique which will lead to quieter edges. Here are punctuation marks that need to be placed at the beginning or end, pushed outside the column edge, so that the letters that come before or after the punctuation conclude, again at the column border. Standing for example Justify the hyphens in the column, resulting optical gaps at the edge because the hyphen leaves a lot of white space left. By moving the hyphen on the columns, the edge previous letter closes flush with the edge of the column and from the optical gap is closed.
