Hankyu Railway
Hankyu Dentetsu K. K. (Japanese:阪急 电 鉄 株式会社, Hankyu Dentetsu kabushiki - gaisha, English: Hankyu Corp. or Hankyu Railway Corp. . ) is a private railway company in Japan, the northern Kansai region served by a private standard-gauge rail network with transport and regional transport.
It is a 100 % owned subsidiary of Hankyu Hanshin Holdings KK (阪急 阪神 ホールディングス 株式会社) which in turn, together with H ₂ O Retailing KK and Toho K. K. Hankyu Hanshin Toho Group under the (阪急 阪神 東宝 グループ, Hankyu Hanshin Toho Gurūpu ) is subsumed.
Name
The company name is derived from Keihanshin kyuko (京 阪神 急 行). The word Keihanshin (京 阪神) denotes the metropolitan region, which is composed of the cities of Kyoto (京都), Osaka (大阪) and Kobe (神 戸) forms. Kyuko (急 行) literally means express train. The main railway station of the network is in Umeda, a district of Osaka ( Japan), in which a large number of private railway lines meet and allow Umstiege, for example, for route network of Kintetsu.
Route network
The system operated by the company network in a track width of 1,435 mm ( standard gauge ) has a length of 138.4 kilometers. History
A precursor, the Mino Arima Denki Kido K. K. (箕 面 有 马 电 気 轨道 株式会社), was founded on October 19, 1907. The first regular passenger trains were on 10 March 1910 by Umeda after Takarazuka and Ishibashi ( Ikeda ) to Mino. On February 4, 1918, the name change to the present name was.
As of 1936, the Hanshin kyuko Dentetsu was a baseball team in the Japanese professional league, which later Hankyu Braves in the Pacific League the postwar period. In 1988, the Braves were transferred to the financial services ORIX, so that the company began focusing on the railway and real estate business.
