Hanna Segal

Hanna Segal ( born August 20, 1918 in Łódź, † July 5, 2011 in London) was a British psychoanalyst, psychiatrist and university teacher who - is considered "authority in the psychoanalytic treatment of psychotic patients " - next to Wilfred Bion and Herbert Rosenfeld.

Life

Segal had to flee Paris before the German invasion in 1940 to England. It was close associate and collaborator Melanie Klein and one of the most important representatives of object relations theory. In 1987, she held the prestigious Freud Memorial Chair at University College London.
