The Hannover- Altenbekener Railway Company (HAE ) was one of the enterprises of the "railway king " Bethel Henry Strousberg. Its route network was after the first phase (up to 1872) from the two routes Hanover Altenbeken and Weetzen - Haste (Deister Railway ). In a second phase to 1875 the track wages -Hameln -Hildesheim - Vienenburg was (now on the section to Hildesheim: Weser Railway, east railway Hildesheim - Goslar ). This gave the power of the Weser mountain country to the resin.

History

Planning this route network already existed at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover, but only after the end of the projects could be carried out. The main purpose of railway construction were the connection of Hamelin to the railway and the better transport of the Deister coal. However, the driving force for Strousberg was the idea of a connection of its network in the East ( Silesian Industrial Area, East Prussia ) with the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial area. With the route to Altenbeken he tried to get a connection to the network of the Royal Westphalian Railway Company.

The concession for the routes of the first phase was issued on 25 November 1868. The track construction was started in 1869 and interrupted in 1870 because of labor shortages due to the Franco-German War. For this reason, the concession was extended by one year. The first part Hannover Hameln was opened on April 13, 1872, followed on 1 May 1872, section Weetzen - Barsinghausen and on August 15, 1872 Barsinghausen - Haste. The total distance to Altenbeken was completed on 19 December 1872. Starting point of the routes was the Local Station Hannover, later South Station, near Bismarck Street. This was connected via a connecting train to today's sidings Pferdeturm with the track Taught Brunswick.

The track wages -Hildesheim - Vienenburg was built because of the financial decline of the Strousberg - enterprises already in cooperation with the Magdeburg- Halberstadt Railway ( MHE ), which had now taken over the management of HAE. It was opened in May / June 1875. The section Grauhof - Vienenburg was operated jointly.

In connection with the HAE other routes were planned by Strousberg, according to its financial ruin from the early 1870s but abandoned or only added later by the Prussian state railways, such as the railway line Hildesheim - Braunschweig.

The HAE was system sold in the course of the nationalization of the MHE, although the Prussian state had no particular interest in the track. The HAE was on February 1, 1880 in the administration and operation of the Prussian state railways and on April 1, 1881 in possession of over.
