Hans-Bernd Schäfer

Hans -Bernd Schäfer ( born May 25, 1943 in Münster ) is a German economist who in particular deals with the economic analysis of law.

Shepherd was a professor at the University of Hamburg and Director of the Institute of Law and Economics. He became Professor Emeritus in 2008. In addition, he was from 2004 to 2007 President of the European Association of Law & Economics, and from 2004 to 2008 Director of the European Master Programme in Law & Economics. At the Bucerius Law School, he has held a professorship affiliate.

In 2012 he received an honorary professorship at the Law Faculty of the University of St. Martin de Porres in Lima.

Under Shepherd numerous publications, especially the textbook for ökononmischen analysis of civil law is to emphasize that he has co-authored with Claus Ott. Shepherd is co-editor of the International Review of Law and Economics.
