Hans Bongartz

John " Hannes " Bongartz ( born October 3, 1951 in Bonn ) is a former German football player and current football coach.

Career

Trained as an industrial clerk devoted himself before his football career the art cycling. For this sport he came through his father, who for many years was chairman of a cycling club in Bonn- Duisdorf. Among other things, Hannes Bongartz was runner-up in the student -DM.

His footballer career began Bongartz in Prussia Duisdorf. About the Bonner SC he came 1971 on the SG Wattenscheid 09 in the Regionalliga West. Mid-1970s was Bongartz, nicknamed "Asparagus Tarzan" was because of its sleek stature, the largest German midfielder. In 1974 he moved to the Bundesliga FC Schalke 04 and was the same regulars, in the German top flight all matches completed in his first season. In order to finance the transfer of Bongartz, the ticket prices were increased by a so-called " Bongartz - Mark " in Gelsenkirchen Park Stadium in 1974.

Bongartz was in 1976 at the European Championships in Yugoslavia to the Germany squad. He appeared as a substitute in the final against Czechoslovakia and struck the decisive penalty shootout. In the national team Bongartz but never was able to prevail, he managed only four caps.

After he became German Vice-Champion in 1977 still with Schalke, he moved in 1978 to the first FC Kaiserslautern; whose coach Karl -Heinz Feldkamp he already knew from his time at Wattenscheid 09 As a regular player, he contributed to the success of the FCK at that time decisively. By 1982, reached the "Red Devils " two third and two fourth places. 1984 ended Bongartz his career as a sports invalid.

Hannes Bongartz played 298 Bundesliga games and scored 39 goals.

In October 1985, Bongartz completed the training to become football coaches from the Sports University in Cologne, for the season 1984/85 he took over the 1 FC Kaiserslautern as a coach. In the first league Bongartz also coached his hometown club SG Wattenscheid 09, MSV Duisburg and Borussia Moenchengladbach. In September 1998, he was a second time coach of the SG Wattenscheid played now in the second division. On taking office Wattenscheid finished last. Bongartz only managed short, to lead the team out of the relegation zone, at the end of the season we got off as Tabellensiebzehnter. By the end of the 2003/04 season was Bongartz coach in the Regional (at that time the third- highest division ) at SG Wattenscheid 09, which he left in the league after the descent.

Between 17 February and 1 July 2006 Bongartz was head coach of Sportfreunde Siegen.

In May 2007, he was sports director at the Greek first division side Skoda Xanthi, 2008, he finished this commitment. Today he lives in Bottrop and operates as a player consultant.
