Skoda Xanthi F.C.
The AO Xanthi is a football club in the Greek town of Xanthi, which now bears the name of Skoda Xanthi FC.
History
Founded in 1967 by the merger of hitherto rival clubs Aspida and Orfeas, AO Xanthi abolished in 1989, the rise in the first Greek football league. In 1991, VIAMAR SA, the official importer of Skoda vehicles, the majority shareholder of the club. Since then, the club bears its present name Skoda Xanthi FC. 2002 was finally able to participate in the UEFA Cup, in which one but already failed in the 1st round at Lazio. Hannes Bongartz, former coach of the German football clubs SG Wattenscheid 09, 1.FC Kaiserslautern, Borussia Mönchengladbach and MSV Duisburg, was from 2007 to 2008 director of sport at Skoda Xanthi FC.
