Hans Mierendorff

Hans Mierendorff (born: John Reinhold Mierendorff; * June 30, 1882 in Rostock, † December 26, 1955 in Eutin ) was a German actor.

Life

The son of the big merchant Mierendorff Carl and his wife Johanna nee Reinke, a painter, attended high school in Rostock and the Grand-Ducal School in Doberan. After an apprenticeship as a bookseller in Schwerin he trained as an actor and he entered the Court Theatre Schwerin to play as an apprentice. He appeared in Hamburg, Halle and Breslau. 1911 to 1919 he worked in Berlin at different stages, namely from 1911 to 1913 at the Residenz Theater, 1913-1915 at the Lessing Theatre, 1915-1917 at the German theater artists and to 1919 at the Meinhard - Bernauer - stages.

His first appearance in the film he had in 1911 in the Henny Porten film The adopted child and played in the same year alongside Asta Nielsen as their father in the strange bird, directed by Urban Gad. Frequently Mierendorff was occupied as an elegant, distinguished gentleman. He had success in the produced by Joe May and partially staged, eight -part series The mistress of the world (1919).

In 1919 he founded the Lucifer -Film GmbH, which he chaired until its sale in 1923 as artistic director. In our own production he starred in adventure and detective films. Remarkable for its dual role in the film I'm You ( 1921). In the talkie he only worked as a supporting actor and retired after 1945 all of the film work back. He then ran a guest house on the Baltic Sea.

Hans Mierendorff appeared in over 100 films. He was married to the animal painter Gertrud Schmidt since 1903. In 1923 he went his second marriage with the singer and actress Auguste Herta Katsch. From this marriage came his son Klaus Mierendorff ( 1923-1966 ). In 1940 he completed his third marriage with their sister Antonie Katsch.
