Hans Pleydenwurff

Hans Pleydenwurff (also Pleidenwurff ) (* around 1420 probably in Bamberg, † January 9, 1472 in Nuremberg ) was a German painter. It was established since 1457 in Nuremberg and set a new realism style in painting by local, where he was influenced by the Dutch painting. He was probably a teacher of Michael Wolgemut.

From his son William Pleydenwurff († 1494 in Nuremberg) originate as joint work with Michael Wolgemut the woodcuts of the World Chronicle by Hartmann Schedel. Another son, Sebald, settled down in Eisleben, his profession is not known. Father of Hans Kunz was probably Pleydenwurff, a respected painter in Bamberg, sometimes also mayor of the city.
