Hans Somers

Hans Somers (born 9 March 1978 in Mechelen ) is a Belgian footballer. Since summer 2010 he has been without a club.

Career

Somers played in the youth for the VC Rijmenam before he moved to the youth department of the Lierse SK. In the 1996/97 season, the midfielder was promoted to the first team of the club, where he came on three missions in the Jupiler League in the first year. After the season Somers won the Belgian championship with Lierse. In 1999 followed the success in cup competition. In the following years he became the master power and lifted out by scoring prowess. This remained the other teams outside of Belgium did not go unnoticed, and so it was in the summer of 2001 with a conversion to Turkey. There he signed with Trabzonspor. After a good first year in the Süper Lig, followed by a less successful for him. The club won the Turkish Cup. After three years at the port city club, it attracted Somers in the Netherlands, to FC Utrecht. Prior to the Cup last year's success was defended. In Utrecht since he belongs to the permanent staff and is one of the important pillars in the composite team. Immediately after his arrival at the FCU the Johan Cruyff - Schaal was recovered. For the first time in the history of the competition won not one of the Big Three (PSV Eindhoven, Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord Rotterdam).

After the end of his contract he is without a club since the summer of 2010.
