Hans Stern

Hans Stern ( born October 1, 1922 in Essen, † 26 October 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was a Brazilian jeweler German origin and the senior partner of the third largest jewelry company in the world.

Life

Hans Stern came from a resident in Essen / Ruhr Jewish family. After the father's electrical business had been set on fire and destroyed during the Kristallnacht, the family emigrated to South America. 1939 entered Hans Stern Brazilian soil. After the war, opened its first office star in Rio for gems, which he financed by the family legend from the proceeds of his accordion. 60 years later, he was the third- largest after Tiffany and Cartier jewelry company in the world. His jewelry and jewelry watches have been awarded with all prestigious design awards.

The company's headquarters is located in Rio de Janeiro, founded by the Stern Museum for gems with a demonstration workshop for machining and grinding of the stones in the Ipanema district. Stern has established in 1958 the first gem laboratory in South America.
