Hans von Kulmbach

Hans von Kulmbach, Hans Suess actually, sweetening written, (* 1480 in Kulmbach, † 1522 in Nuremberg ) was a German painter, draftsman and printmaker.

He was a pupil of the painter Jacopo de Barbari and then went to Nuremberg, where he closely as assistant to Albrecht Dürer became friends with this one. 1514 he was in Krakow, where he created the scenes from the life of the Virgin. Later he had his own workshop in Nuremberg. Among his supporters there was also the dealer and patron Hans Boner.
