Hans von Zwiedineck-Südenhorst

Hans von Zwiedineck - south Horst, full name Johann Alois Zwiedineck, Edler von south Horst ( born April 14, 1845 in Frankfurt am Main, † November 22, 1906 in Graz) was an Austrian historian and professor of history.

Life

Zwiedineck - south Horst was the son of an Austrian colonel of artillery. He studied after high school history at the University of Graz. Then he received a first job at the Styrian Provincial Library, and then at the national secondary school in Graz. 1875 Habilitation Zwiedineck as a lecturer in history at the University of Graz. In 1880 he was appointed director of the Styrian State Library and in 1885 was appointed associate professor. From 1899 he was professor in Graz. He was active in addition to the publication of several works of history as the author of several articles in the General German Biography.

Zwiedineck - south Horst was the founder of the Corps Teutonia Graz ( 1863) and Vandalia Graz ( 1864). The Corps Saxonia Vienna awarded him in 1899 the band. He initiated in 1892 the establishment of the Historic National Commission for Styria and served until 1906 as Executive Secretary. Otto von Zwiedineck - south Horst was a son.
