Hänssler

The Haenssler Verlag was a Christian publishing house, which published mainly music and evangelical writings. Since the merger in 2007 with other evangelical publishers for publishing the SCM Foundation Christian media, the portfolio under the brand SCM Hänssler continues.

History

After fruitless search for a publisher who still published after the First World War to his setting of the poem " Carried on eagles' wings " by Anni of Viehbahn publish, Friedrich Haenssler founded on April 1, 1919 along with his wife Friedericke in Stuttgart- Plieningen the Haenssler -Verlag. In addition to his own compositions he published Hymns other composers and classical music works, including works of Jewish origin composer Felix Mendelssohn, which is why the publisher was publicly defamed 1933 in Nazi Germany and in 1941 finally prohibited.

After the end of World War II Friedrich Haenssler received on 10 June 1945 as the tenth German publisher of the Allies, the license to resume his work. In 1950 his son Frederick Haenssler in the publishing and took over nine years his authority. The publishing house was expanded in the following decades into one of the most influential Christian publishers in Germany. Not only in the print media but also with his music label Haenssler Music and especially Haenssler Classic, the publisher gave international recognition. In Germany the Haenssler -Verlag worked in the Christian publishing collaborations Edition C and ABC team.

In May 2002, Haenssler -Verlag joined the Foundation Christian media. Here he finally merged in 2007 with the R. Brockhaus Verlag, Oncken Verlag and ERF -Verlag for SCM -Verlag. The traditional name was retained as a brand SCM Hänssler.

Selection and program

About 120 music productions of different style are published every year. The classical program of SCM Hänssler consists of the label Haenssler Classic with about 320 titles of various artists, the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart with around 250 productions by Helmuth Rilling and SWR Music (formerly: Fascination music) with 150 productions in collaboration with the SWR. With the edition Bachakademie Haenssler Classic and the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart published a total of 172 CDs the complete completely and incompletely preserved composition works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Appear under the label Haenssler Music both classic and traditional as well as modern pop, rock and worship productions of Christian artists such as Manfred Siebald, Christoph Zehendner, Hella Heizmann, Florence Joy, Youth for Christ Choir and Studio Choir of the Arts Education Center under the direction by Klaus Heizmann, Albert Frey, Johannes Nitsch, Christ singers, Cae Gauntt and Gerhard reaper with its choirs Time To Sing, ERF Studio Choir and soloists.

In print media, each year about 110 new publications are released. The repertoire ranges from Bible translations such as New Life on non-fiction, biographies and novels to children's books. The authors of the publisher are mainly from the evangelical spectrum, such as Hartmut Steeb, Peter Hahne, Hartmut chicken leg, Michael Herbst, Ulrich Parzany, Jörg Swoboda or Jürgen value. In addition Haenssler also published individual books Catholic authors such as Bernhard Langer and Gerard van den Aardweg.
