Hantumhuizen

Hantumhuizen ( Frisian: Hantumhuzen ) is a village in the municipality Dongeradeel in the Dutch province of Friesland. It is located north of Dokkum and has 220 inhabitants (2008 ). The name of the village means that houses are at Hantum.

Hantumhuizen originated in the Middle Ages on a high mound, but it was already removed at the end of the 19th century. There are also in Hantumhuizen a church from the 13th century, which is partly influenced by the Romanesque and partly from the Gothic.
