Harald Johnsen

Harald Johnsen (actually: Harald Gill Johnsen; * March 19, 1970; † July 24, 2011 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian jazz bassist.

Career

During his music studies at the Engineering and Natural Sciences University of Norway ( NTNU ) in Trondheim (1989-1993) he was a member of the Trondheim Kunstorkester led by Trygve Seim.

Later he was involved in a whole series jazz bands and recordings. Among them are groups like the Nils- Olav Johansen Trio and the Jan -Erik Haug Kong Quartet as well as collaborations with artists such as Sigurd Køhn and Bjørn Johansen.

A wider audience outside Norway, he became known in recent years for his work in the Silje Nergaard Band or Tord Gustavsen Trio with, from whom he separated in 2008 for health reasons.

24 July 2011 Johnsen died at the age of 41 of heart failure. The grave of Harald Gill Johnsen is located near Gamle Aker kirke on the Oslo cemetery Gamle Aker kirkegård.
