Harald Julius von Bosse
Harald Julius von Bosse ( born September 28, 1812 in Lievburg in St. Petersburg, † March 10, 1894 in Dresden ) was a Baltic German architect and painter.
Life and work
Harald Julius von Bosse was the son of the historical and portrait painter Ernst God Help bosses (born in 1785 in Riga, 1815-1820 pupil of Dresden Academy ). From 1828 on he studied in Dresden and Darmstadt. After that, he lived in St. Petersburg and made his buildings a special contribution to the epoch of historicism. He designed and built townhouses, villas and country houses in St. Petersburg and the surrounding area, but also churches. In 1832, he was " free artist ", 1839 and 1854, Academician Professor at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. In 1858 he was " Imperial Russian court architect ". In 1865, he was charged by Tsar Alexander II in the hereditary nobility.
From 1863 until his death in 1894 he lived in Dresden. His buildings are designed in different designs and styles, as well as in planning the Villa Meyer in Dresden. As an architect, he also played in the planning of the Russian Orthodox Church in Dresden a special role, the site management was performed by the Dresden architect Karl Weissenbach. In Dresden he led, inter alia, the planning and construction of the Evangelical Reformed Church (1892-1894) of the Romanesque Revival style. The model was the Reformed Church of St. John in St. Petersburg, which he had designed and built 1859-1860. The Church in Dresden was severely damaged in 1945 and later demolished. He belonged to the Reformed church in Dresden. His restored grave is located on the Trinity Cemetery.
