Harpalus (astronomer)

Harpalus (Greek Ἅρπαλος ) was an astronomer of ancient Greece. His life data are not precisely known. He's younger than Kleostratos and older than Meton. His work is expected to be around 450 to put BC. After Censorinus he should have determined the length of the year to 365 days and 13 hours and it established an improved system of Oktaeteris.

According to him, the moon crater Harpalus is named.
