Harpsund

Harpsund is a Swedish manor house on the same lake. It serves as the country residence of the Swedish Prime Minister. Harpsund is located approximately 125 kilometers south of Stockholm in Mellösa, community Flen, Södermanland County Province. To Harpsund include 1650 acres of land with woods. It is administered by the State Property Management.

History

Harpsund was first mentioned in 1380. Several buildings date from the 17th century. 1784-1899 was the estate owned by the aristocratic family Sparre. The two-story main building was demolished in 1914 due to disrepair and rebuilt by Otar Hökerberg at Karolinska style. 1952 was bequeathed by Carl- August Wicander testament to the state. Outbuildings were converted for conferences. Since then, the mansion for informal meetings between government, industry and social institutions will be used.

Prime Minister Tage Erlander 1964 General Secretary Nikita Khrushchev invited to take a boat trip; Fredrik Reinfeldt, flailed 2008 with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Both times created memorable photographs.
