Harris Mann

Harris (b. April 1938 in London) is a British automobile designer.

Mann began his career at the bus manufacturer Duple Coachbuilders. Then he went a short time in the United States to Raymond Loewy. Back in England he worked for the carmaker Commer and Ford, where he participated in the development of the Ford Escort and the Ford Capri. Together with his boss Roy Haynes, he joined in 1967 by Ford to the British Motor Corporation. There, the couple took over the management of the design department.

As the design department of the BMC was moved to Longbridge, Haynes left the company. Man was chairman of the design team of British Leyland. There he developed the characteristic design of the Triumph TR7, which was also used in the TR8.

In addition, he designed the Austin Allegro. From participation in the project of Diablo Leyland Princess was born. His last work was the Austin Metro and the Austin Maestro. Then he left British Leyland and worked as a freelancer, among other things for MG Rover.
