Harry Haffner

Harry Haffner ( born May 28, 1900 in Uslar; † 14 October 1969 in Hornberg ) was a German lawyer and Nazi.

NS - career

Haffner, since 1933 member of the NSDAP and the SA was initially chief of staff at the federal National Socialist German Jurists and cell leader in the NSI.

In 1934 he became the first prosecutor in Celle and 1936 senior prosecutor with the Attorney General Kassel. Since 1938 he was a representative of the Attorney General in Hamm.

In November 1943, Haffner was appointed Attorney General of Katowice. Here, among other things, the death camp Auschwitz was in his area of ​​competence.

On March 14, 1945, he was the successor of Wilhelm Crohne as the last President of the People's Court. He held office until April 24, 1945 until the Court had ceased its activity.

After the war

Under the name of Heinrich Hartmann lived Haffner since 1946 in the Hessian Sontra. In Sontra he operated a button shop together with his wife. In 1953, he turned himself to the prosecutor Kassel and made his past public. Proceedings against him were terminated.
