Harry Moniba

Harry Fumba Moniba ( born October 22, 1937 in Lofa, † November 24, 2004 in Michigan) was a politician from Liberia. From 1986 to 1990 he was under the presidency of Samuel Doe of Liberia's Vice President.

Vice-Presidency

Harry Moniba was under President Samuel Doe on January 6, 1986, the Vice President of Liberia. Doe won the 1985 the first choice, which was carried out after he had arrived in the country in 1980 by a coup to power, with 51 % of votes. After the government was deposed in 1990 and the first Liberian civil war had broken out, Moniba fled Monrovia.

Presidential election

After the Liberian civil war ended in 1997 and first elected again, had Moniba stand for election and ultimately finished but merely a seventh place. Election winner was the RUF supporters Charles Taylor. Moniba planned to compete in the presidential election in 2005, but died earlier on 24 November 2004 in a car accident in Michigan.
