Harumafuji Kōhei

Harumafuji Kohei (Japanese日 马富士 公平; born April 14, 1984 as Dawaanjamyn Bjambadordsch, Mongolian Даваанямын Бямбадорж in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) is a Mongolian sumo wrestler in Japan Makuuchi division. Until November 2008, he fought under the name Ama Kohei (Japanese安马 公平). In September 2012, he was promoted to yokozuna, the highest rank in sumo.

Career

His first sumo tournament Ama denied in January 2001. 2004 he reached the Makuuchi division. In May 2006, Ama won his first tournament as a komusubi, but could not hold that rank first. Since his second promotion to komusubi in the March 2007 tournament fights Ama constant in the sanyaku ranks. In Kyushu - Basho 2008, he reached with a record of 13-2, a jump-off for the tournament win against Hakuho, which he lost however. After this tournament, he was appointed ozeki, the second highest rank in sumo, and changed his ring name of Ama in Harumafuji. In the Natsu Basho - 2009, he reached with a record of 14-1 again a play-off against Hakuho. This time he could conquer and Hakuho won his first tournament in the Makuuchi division. His second tournament he won in July 2011. In July 2012, he faced on the last day Hakuho. Both fighters had up to this time a perfect record of 14 wins. Harumafuji defeated his opponent by Yorikiri and was able to win his third tournament. Also in September 2012 Harumafuji rejoined 15-0 with two wins ahead of his pursuers Hakuho from which he could wrestle in a two-minute fight on the last day. It therefore meets the conditions for appointment as a yokozuna and was appointed by the Committee of the Union for the yokozuna on 26 September 2012.

With approximately 133 kg Harumafuji is a below average heavy sumo wrestler in the Makuuchi division. He is in the ring very fast and a very good technician.
