Makuuchi#Komusubi

Komusubi (Japanese小结) is the fourth highest rank in sumo. The komusubi is the fourth and lowest sanyaku rank.

If a kachi- koshi komusubi with cuts (more wins than losses in a tournament ), he remains either komusubi, or he was promoted to sekiwake. He will cut with make Koshi (more defeats than victories) from, the komusubi is usually downgraded to maegashira. In a tight make- koshi ( 7 wins to 8 losses ) of Ringer from rising under certain circumstances not know what's happened four times between World War II and 2009.

At any time there are at least two Komusubis. In certain circumstances the rankings, there are exceptional cases three or four Komusubis. This is generally the case when a maegashira reached at least 11 wins. This usually means an additional Komusubiplatz is opened.
