Hashem Sabbaghian

Hashem Sabbaghian (Persian هاشم صباغیان Hashem Sabāghyān, born January 1, 1937 in Tehran ) is an Iranian politician.

Life

Hashem Sabbaghian was from June 12 to November 6, 1979, the first Iranian interior minister after the Islamic Revolution. In the elections on 28 June 1980, he was elected as a member of the Iran Freedom Movement in Parliament, where he remained but only until May 2, 1984 because the hardliners putting pressure on him. The Guardian Council rejected his candidacy for the parliamentary election in 1996.

In the years 1990-1992 Hashem Sabbaghian was imprisoned as an oppositionist. Because of its membership in the freedom movement, where he was deputy party leader Ebrahim Yazdi, was arrested on October 1, 2010 in Isfahan along with Yazdi and has since been in custody.

Hashem Sabbaghian married in 1965 and has one son and four daughters, who are also members of the Freedom Movement.
