Hasht Behesht

Hascht - Behesht ( English transliteration Hasht Behesht, DMG 've behest ) (Eight Paradises; persian هشت بهشت ​​) is a palace of Safavid period in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

History

In 1669 it was completed under Shah Soleiman and is surrounded by a Persian garden with the original name Nightingale Garden ( Bāgh Bolbol ). The palace was once one of the most richly decorated buildings of the city. Over time, the interior decoration, however, were largely destroyed.

Architecturally, the building lives on the interplay of internal and external spaces. Worth seeing are among other things, numerous ornate Ivane inside the building. Several tile work On the outside facade with representations of various animal scenes (birds, beasts and reptiles).

1977, the palace was partially restored, which was in 1980 awarded the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
