Hasköy (Kurdish: Dêrxas ) is a town and a district in the eastern Turkish province of Muş. Hasköy is located in the south of the province, bordering the province of Bitlis. The city has 14,480 and the county of 30.134 inhabitants ( 2008). Hasköy was founded on 19 June 1987 as a district and is 227.28 km ², the smallest administrative district of the province.

History

Near Hasköy was the ancient Carian city Attuda (Greek Ἄττουδα ). It maintained close relations with the neighboring city Trapezopolis. Coins from the time of Augustus with the inscription Ἱερὰ Βουλὴ Ἀττουδέων show that the God of Men was worshiped here. Beginning of the 20th century lived in the 4000 Armenians in the city, which had three churches. The name could be derived from Hasköy Armenian word Xarts for swamp / wetland.
