Hauconcourt

Hauconcourt is a commune of 540 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Metz- Campagne and Canton Maizières- lès- Metz.

Geography

Hauconcourt is located on the left bank of the Moselle, about 13 kilometers north of Metz at an altitude 155-166 m above sea level. The municipal area covers 7.9 km ².

History

The town was first mentioned in 1060 as Hauencumeurt and is always on the French side of the historic German - French language border.

1915-18 and 1940-44 he wore the Germanized name Halkenhofen.

To the west of the municipality, the large commercial area extends ZI Talange - Hauconcourt. Here, in particular, shopping centers ( Lapeyre, Leroy Merlin, E. Leclerc ) and a House of Novotel chain have settled. In the south of the community is the site of a former oil refinery ( Societe de la refinery de Lorraine ).

In the southwest of the municipality, the A4 and A31 motorways intersect.
