HD 72659 b

HD 72659 b is an extrasolar planet that orbits the yellow dwarf HD 72659 with an orbital period of about 8.7 years. Due to its high mass is assumed that it is a gas planet.

Discovery

Like the majority of exoplanets this one was also discovered using the radial velocity method. The planet was from Paul Butler et al. discovered in 2002.

Circulation and mass

The planet orbits its star at a distance of about 4 astronomical units at an eccentricity of 0.2 and has a mass of at least about 3 Jupiter masses.
