HD 8673

HD 8673 is an approximately 120 light years from Earth distant Sun-like star in the constellation Andromeda. Its apparent brightness is 6.3 mag. HD 8673 has at least one companion.

Possible companion

Brian Mason sparked in 2001 by means of speckle interferometry a close companion of HD 8673 at an angular distance of 0 " 1 (about 3.8 AU) on It could be this object is a close companion star, ., This observation has been but still unconfirmed (as of March 2010). As part of a planet search program at the National Tautenburg also a companion was found by observing the radial velocity of HD 8673, which surrounds the star with a period of 639 days and for a minimum mass of about 14 Jupiter masses and a semi-major axis of 1, 6 AE results. This location could thus be a brown dwarf or a massive exoplanets. It would be possible that the two above observations refer to the same object. In this case the observations would indicate a low-mass companion star with a low orbital inclination ( i ≤ 10 °).
