Headshop

As Head Shop ( or Head Shop) is usually referred to small shops that sell accessories for the consumption of cannabis.

Are sold as water pipes, bongs, vaporizers or long cigarette paper (long paper) for rotating joints, but also normal tobacco pipes. In addition, often ashtrays, lighters, pipe cleaners, poster allegedly psychedelic color combinations, Rastafari, hemp leaf or medieval and mythological motives, rarely also in accordance with printed clothes and reggae music are offered.

Head shops are legal in Germany and Austria, as long as the drugs themselves are not sold there. In some other countries they are illegal, however, such as in France, when fine scales or items are offered with a hemp leaf imprint.

Head shops originated in the 1960s from the hippie culture in San Francisco. Initially the shops settled only in the local scene Haight-Ashbury district, but soon spread across the entire United States. Opened by Paul -Gerhard Pretty May 1968 Heidi -loves -you- Store in Frankfurt am Main was the first of its kind in Germany. After a raid the store, however, was already closed by the police and security authority again in September of the same year.
