Haight-Ashbury

Haight -Ashbury is a district of San Francisco, named for the intersection of Haight Street and Ashbury Street. Became famous for the area in the 1960s by the beatnik and hippie movement. As a famous musician, who resided in Haight- Ashbury and the local music scene helped shape crucial are Janis Joplin as well as the groups Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane mentioned. Haight -Ashbury is still an attraction for an alternative counterculture.
