Hearthstone Castle

Hearthstone Castle, first known as " The Sanford Castle", is a Grade II listed building in Danbury (Connecticut). The building dates from the years 1895-1899 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It was sometimes also called Parks ' Castle and known simply The Castle. The building complex is now owned by the City of Danbury in Tarrywile Park. Hearthstone Castle is currently not publicly available.

Hearthstone Castle was by E. Starr Sanford, the inventor of an early film camera, built but sold in 1902 to the New York industrialist Victor Buck. After further changes of ownership, the property came into the property in 1918 by Irene Parks, daughter of Charles Darling Parks. Irene Parks Jennings lived there until her death in 1982. Their heirs Richard and Constance Jennings sold it in 1987 to the City of Danbury. Since then, there were serious signs of decay, but there are renovation plans.
