Héctor Cúper (2008)

Héctor Raúl Cúper ( born November 16, 1955 in Santa Fe ) is a former Argentine football player and current football coach.

He started his career in 1976 with Ferro Carril Oeste. In 1977 he spent a year at Independiente Rivadavia, then he returned to his old club Ferro Carril Oeste. With this club he was in 1982 and 1984 Argentine champion.

In 1988 he moved to Club Atlético Huracán, where in 1992 he ended his career and his coach, he was between 1992 to 1995.

1995-1997 he was the coach of Club Atlético Lanús. In 1996 he won the Copa Conmebol with Lanús (comparable to the UEFA Cup ). In 1997 he took over the coaching job at RCD Mallorca, with whom he won the Supercopa de España 1998.

He became a coach at FC Valencia, with whom he again took the Supercopa de España 1999, 1999. In addition, he managed with the Spaniards twice reaching the final of the Champions League, both games were lost, however - only against Real Madrid 0-3 in 2000 and 2001 with FC Bayern Munich 5:6 nE He was then coach of Inter Milan and has been in the seasons 2001/ 02 and 2002/ 03 respectively runner-up. After a mixed season start, he was released on Matchday 4 of the 2003/04 season after a 1:3 home defeat in the derby against AC Milan. For the season 2004 /05 he was again coach of RCD Mallorca, which he supervised until 2006.

For the season 2007/ 08 Cúper took over the Spanish club Real Betis, but was dismissed after just 14 games since he won only two league games with his team and was on the second to last place in the table. On 11 March 2008 he was appointed coach of FC Parma in the Italian Serie A, where he one match after two wins, three draws and five defeats on May 12 was released but before the end of the season. From August 2008 to November 2, 2009, he trained the Georgian national team. Since November 3, 2009, he was employed by the Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki. In the 2011/12 season he was coach of Spanish side Racing Santander, until he resigned from his coaching job on November 29, 2011.

Since the winter break 2011/2012 Cúper coached the Turkish first division club Orduspor. Beginning of April 2013 he left this club, after he had slipped more and more into the relegation places with the club end of the season.

On November 14, 2013 Cúper took over the tops club Al Wasl FC in the United Arab Emirates.
