Hector MacKenzie, Baron MacKenzie of Culkein

Hector Uisdean MacKenzie, Baron MacKenzie of Culkein ( born February 25, 1940) is a British nurse and union official.

The son of George MacKenzie and Williamina Sutherland studied nursing at Leverndale School of Nursing in Glasgow and the West Cumberland School of Nursing in Whitehaven.

MacKenzie was 1958-1961 nurse at Leverndale Hospital and from 1964 to 1966 at the West Cumberland Hospital. Since 1969 he worked for the Confederation of Health Service Employees initially as a second regional secretary, then as a regional secretary of Yorkshire and the East Midlands. He was from 1974 in the national corporate office, and finally from 1987 to 1993 General Secretary of the union.

MacKenzie is a member of UNISON and from 1993 to 2000, the Deputy Secretary-General.

Lord MacKenzie of Culkein was married from 1961 to 1991 with Anna Morrison, they have one son and three daughters.
