Héctor Zelada

Héctor Zelada ( born April 30, 1958 in Maciel, Santa Fe Province), also known by the nickname El Cabezon, is a former Argentine football goalkeeper who belonged to the squad of the world champion team of 1986.

Life

Héctor Miguel Zelada began his professional career in 1976 at his hometown club Rosario Central and in 1978 moved to the Mexican first division side Club América, in which he was nearly a decade under contract and with whom he won three times in a row, the Mexican championship in the 1980s.

By 84 held in the final second leg match of the season 1983 / Penalty against the big rivals Chivas Guadalajara had Zelada significant part in the first title of American fashionistas after eight years, the in the following two seasons (1984 /85 and Prode 85) followed by the next track.

Zelada, who is seen by many fans of Club America as the best goalkeeper in the club's history, played his first game for América on 4 March 1979 in a superclásico against Chivas Guadalajara, which was held at the Estadio Jalisco and ended goalless. His last game for América, he played on 8 May 1987 at a 1-1 draw against Club León in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City.

The Aztec Stadium was as a home ground of Club America not only eight years his field of activity, but also the site of his greatest triumph, although he was only a passive role in this. Because in "his " stadium was the third goalkeeper of the Argentine national football team at that selection that won the Football World Cup 1986 by a 3-2 final win against Germany.
