The Heath Brook headwaters

Course

The Heidebach rises to about 235 m above sea level. NN in a deep valley, which is bounded by the 393 m high Bielenstein in the west, the 386 m high Grotenburg in the east, and by the 393.4 m high Klöppingsberg in the south. The heath stream flows from its origin through the Heidental to the south, flows through Hiddesen and Heidenoldendorf and finally empties north of Heidenoldendorf at Mühlenbruch in the Werre. From Heidenoldendorf the creek was channeled to his last one and a half kilometers to its mouth and forced into a concrete bed in Heidenoldendorf over a length of 400 meters. The creek overcomes an overall vertical drop of 115 meters, which corresponds to an average bed slope of 1.8 percent.

In the German base map another source is identified as the source of heath brook. This is located northeast those reported by the State Survey Office NRW source on the southern slope of the Grotenburg. Assuming this to be the origin of the water body, the result is a total length of 7.0 km.

Tourism / Leisure

In Heidental there is a variety of marked hiking trails, including the Hermannsweg that goes up from the Heidental for Hermann monument lists the Grotenburg.

Environment

The Heidebach is associated with the water quality class II. This means that it is excessively dirty.

Special

The Heidebach rises on the northern edge of the Teutoburg Forest, which is part of the Weser -Ems - watershed. The Heidebach has no significant and named tributaries. After a long dry periods, especially in the summer, the heather brook falls across broad segments dry.
