Heimrad Prem

Prem ( born May 27, 1934 in Roding, Oberpfalz, † February 19, 1978 in Munich) was a German painter of the post-war period.

Life and work

Prem made ​​in 1949, his secondary school and started an apprenticeship as a decorative painter, 1952-1957 to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Toni Stadler and on a study of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin with Ernst Schumacher. Together with HP rooms, Lothar Fischer and Helmut Sturm 1958 he founded the group SPUR, a working and living community, which was directed against the rigidity of the post-war period. In 1964, his works at the documenta in Kassel III were shown in the painting department. Several works of Prem from the donation Otto van de Loo be issued at the Kunsthalle Emden.

Prem committed, together with a friend, committed suicide.
