Hein Verbruggen

Hein Verbruggen (born 21 June 1941 in Helmond ) is a Dutch sports official.

Since 1979, Verbruggen held different positions in cycling. From 1984 to 1991 he was chairman of the Fédération Internationale du Cyclisme Professionel. Then came 14 years as chairman of the UCI, the International Cycling Union. In September 2005, he resigned as the successor of the proteges of him Pat McQuaid was elected. Under his auspices the UCI ProTour came about. Despite this controversial reform he has recently been appointed honorary chairman. He is also a member of the IOC since 1996.
