Heinemannia albidorsella

Heinemannia albidorsella is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of the grass leaf miner ( Elachistidae ).

Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 13-16 millimeters. The head white shines, the sensors are uniformly brown gray. The palps are white and at least as long as that of Heinemannia festivella and Heinemannia laspeyrella. The legs and rails, especially the front ones, black exterior. Otherwise, the legs are dirty brown, the tarsi ringed yellowish and indistinct dark. The thorax shining white, the tegulae are white and have a dark gray brown spot at the front. The forewings are white, yellowish white in Costalfalte and gray-brown in the apical region. The Costalstrich is wide and gray-brown and is at 3/ 4 of the forewing length interrupted by a big white bar. A large gray-brown oval spot is in front of the wing center between the Costalfalte and the Costa loader. He is highlighted in white in the direction of Costa loaders, including is located on the dorsal side of the Costalfalte a tuft projecting black-brown scales. A similar spot with a tuft of scales in the distal half is located on the interior angles. He is also outlined in white, the border is connected with the large white bar on the Costa loader. A brown line between the two oval spots, another is located between the outer oval spot and the wing tip. The latter is larger than the first, more reddish brown and distally white border. A black-brown subcostaler line extends from the inner oval spot to the wing tip. It is interrupted by the broad white Costalstrich and the white border of the outer brown stroke. The fringe scales are grayish yellow, at the wing tip runs a wide gray-brown line. The hind wings shining pale gray.

The males differ from those of species Heinemannia laspeyrella and Heinemannia festivella by the width of Gnathos arms. They are narrower than the distal portion of the blades.

In females, the eighth tergite is almost square and tapers distally. The ostium is cup-shaped. The junction area of ductus bursae and corpus bursae is clearly granulated. The corpus bursae is ovoid.

Similar Species

H. albidorsella can be distinguished from the similar species Heinemannia laspeyrella and Heinemannia festivella reference to the white ground color of the fore wings, the great white Costalstrich and the two brown spots in the distal half of the forewing.

Dissemination

Heinemannia albidorsella is located in the south of France in Corsica and Sardinia.

Biology

The food plant of the caterpillars is unknown. The moths were caught from May to early June.
