Heinrich C. Berann

Heinrich Caesar Berann ( born March 31, 1915 in Innsbruck, † December 4, 1999 in Lans, Tirol ) was an Austrian artist. He reached with his panoramic maps, modern cartography with classical painting combined, worldwide fame.

H.C. Berann, son of a family of established Innsbruck painter and sculptor who graduated from the School for Painting in Innsbruck in 1930 to 1933. After graduation, he worked as a freelance artist and designer until his breakthrough in 1934 when he won the first prize in a competition won for the design of the panoramic map of the newly opened Grossglockner High Alpine Road.

In the following years he was able to refine his unique style, which was the trend for today's panoramic maps. His international success of several hundred tickets were next to the panoramic maps for various Olympic games also known works for the National Geographic Society.

He died at the age of 84 years in the Tyrolean village of Lans, where he had lived since 1952. His work is continued by his pupil and assistant Heinz Vielkind with its own studio.
